Douston Construction, Inc. is a progressive construction firm offering services that meet and exceed the needs of its customers by being consistently on time and within budget. Our goal is to maintain diverse projects in both commercial and residential construction assuring the company's financial stability and growth. Douston Construction was established in August 1985. Our initial projects were made up of subcontract frame labor and other forms of carpentry. Our crew was composed of the owners, Shawn and Gail, and two additional carpenters. Over time, our team has grown to include some of the most knowledgeable professionals in the construction business. Our staff currently consists of project managers, estimators, office personnel, and several frame and finish crews. Their combined expertise and dedication allows Douston Construction to continue to offer top quality craftsmanship and service.
2010New Residential This year, Douston Construction had the privilege to work with several repeat customers, some wishing to build second homes, while others wanted to complete unfinished areas of their existing home or add new garages. Douston built over 12,000sf of new finished living space. These new houses ranged in style from a Cape style that replaced a family home in Cape Porpoise Village to a contemporary energy efficient summer home situated in a small beachfront community that features finish oak panel walls & ceilings and exterior polycarbonate siding. Through our partnership with Porter Land Preservation LLC, we are working on Lexington Meadows condominium complex in Commercial Drive through Renovations This year our focus has kept pace with the needs of the current building market and this area continues to be one of growth for Douston Construction. We completed over 10,000sf of work ranging from garage additions, master bedroom suites, kitchen & bath remodels, added dormers, and installed a 4000sf concrete driveway that included stone walls and columns as well as a flagpole & monument just in time for a military ceremony in honor of Flag Day. This year, we have been fortunate to add some quality personnel to our workforce. We have also worked on our systems for greater efficiency in order to solidify our place in the building industry. Douston Construction continues to operate with its core values in mind-Quality-Diversity-Dependability- along with our diversification and work ethic. We continue to maintain a profitable work load and to be fluid in the current economic market. New Residential Douston Construction built 8500sf of finished living space including the completion of the Talbot Woods subdivision in Arundel. Their interiors included hardwood or tile flooring, granite countertops, gas fireplaces, & custom cabinetry. The finished product was a quality Douston Construction home. Commercial This year we completed 2500sf of commercial construction. This project, a beautiful Gallery of Fine American Crafts, was designed by Harvey Wells, R.A, and sits int eh heart of Ogunquit. Because the Gallery design evolved around the need to showcase small to large items, great detail was used in designing the displays and lighting plans.
Douston Construction also built a post & beam barn in the heart of The replacement of this historic building was taken on with passion by its owners. Completely torn down and rebuilt, it now showcases the barn doors salvaged from the original building. Renovations Our construction of additions and remodeling kept us very busy during 2009. We completed approximately 12,000sf of finished living space. Many of our remodels can best be described as whole house remodels. In one instance, the existing home was removed & replaced onto a new foundation. Also remodeled were homes where the construction incorporated existing portions of the structure into the finished project. These houses included many of the amenities found in our new home construction as well as the charm of the former construction.
Summary and Goals We plan to continue to provide our customers with projects that are on time and on budget. Although we are all experiencing challenging times due to the economy. Douston Construction remains profitable and our goals continue to be to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations. New Residential In 2008 Douston Construction built several homes and finished approximately 13,000sf of living space. Our customers ranged from first home buyers to vacation home buyers who love Maine as much as we do. This included a 2300sf ski chalet with beautiful views of Sunday River for a repeat client to a new cottage at Goose Rocks Beach. First-time home buyers are finding the market is allowing them to realize their dreams of home ownership. Commercial Our commercial construction encompassed 2900sf of remodel for a local antique shop. This challenging project encompassed removal of approximately 1/3 of the building down to the foundation. Much care was given to match the existing barn structure and included locally milled barn board and timbers. Renovations This portion of our business continued to be a growth area for Douston Construction with over 5000sf of work completed. We did whole house remodels for three homes and provided numerous smaller remodeling projects around our clients homes ranging from custom kitchen/bath remodels, and other incidentals such as flooring, paint, & moulding, as well as exterior maintenance and energy conservation projects that included new windows, doors, roofing & insulation. Land Development Talbot Woods This premium 22 lot subdivision is very near completion and has only one lot remaining. Summary and Goals
Douston Construction remains committed to customer service, quality, and productivity. Although 2008 presented its challenges in the marketplace with new rules, regulations and a slow new home market, our employees and associates rose to the challenge.
